The European Utility Week is  taking place from November 15th to 17th in Barcelona, Spain.

The large scale conference and exhibition is focused on exploring new fields in the Smart Energy industry of Europe. The Asian Utility Week is currently in its 17th annual edition, taking place from May 31st to June 1st in Bangkok, Thailand.

IEEE International Symposium on Power Line Communications – March 20 to 23, 2016

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers is hosting their 20th conference on Power Line Communications, which will take place on March 20th to 23rd in Bottrop, Germany.

ISPLC is the flagship conference of the IEEE Communications Society Technical Committee on Power Line Communications, and has been financially and technically sponsored by the IEEE Communications Society since 2006.

ISPLC 2016 will bring together high industry participation, academia, researchers and users of power line technologies to present and discuss state of the art solutions and research results on existing and future power line communication systems. The IEEE ISPLC 2016 will focus on key aspects of communications theory, algorithms, standards, measurements, implementations, evaluation of field trials and network operation pertaining to communication via power line.

ISPLC has been a successful conference for 20 years, and it is recognised as the major international conference in the PLC field. Polish Power Transmission and Distribution Association (PTPiREE) is holding their 14th
conference on IT in thepower industry, which will take place on 24-27 November 2015 in Wisla, Poland.

As the process of grid computerisation is increasingly progressing, both in the grid management
(smart grids) and in commonly implemented smart metering, IT safety becomes an important issue
in the power industry. Inter-penetration of systems for grid management, gathering and processing
measurement data and decentralization of power generation sources make the power network more
vulnerable to cyber-attacks. Therefore, during this edition of the conference, we want to focus on the
safety of the power grid.

In addition to IT security, the participants of the conference will have an opportunity to explore the
latest technologies used by power operators in smart grids/smart metering, solutions for production
source management, GIS/SCADA systems, methods for supporting consumer services and many
other systems offered by providers of IT solutions and used for supporting electricity production,
distribution and trading. The conference will be accompanied by an exhibition, where the providers
of hardware and IT systems will present their solutions.

9th Workshop on Power Line Communications: Power Line Communications Enabling the Smart Grid

21-22 September 2015 – Klagenfurt – Austria

The 9th Workshop on Power Line Communications (WSPLC 15) will be held at the Alpen-Adria Universität Klagenfurt on 21-22 September 2015.

The workshop covers relevant topics in PLC with emphasis on smart grid and smart metering. WSPLC 15 is supported by the IEEE Technical Committee on PLC (TC-PLC) and IEEE ISPLC Steering Committee.

WSPLC 15 will bring together academia and industry professionals as well as students and researchers to present and discuss ongoing work on existing and future power line communication (PLC) systems, applications, standardization activities with emphasis, but not limited, to: PLC for smart grids and for smart metering; PLC standards; PLC requirements, coexistence, interoperability; Test and characterization; Physical layer aspects; MAC and network layer aspects; Measurements and modeling; Hardware implementations; Narrow band, broad band and ultra wide band PLC systems; PLC applications: distribution grid, in-home, in-vehicle, industrial.

The workshop will feature a number of talks from renowned experts including 3 of PRIME’s principal member companies: STMicroelectronics, Sagemcom and Atmel.
