Overview
 
PRIME Alliance is open to all potential partners who agree to actively support and promote an open and public specification for the benefit of the end-user and all industry stakeholders. Founding members are: Iberdrola, ST Microelectronics, Texas Instruments, Landis Gyr, Itron, Current Group, Ziv Group and Advanced Digital Design.
 
The Alliance has three categories of participants: Principal Members, Regular Members and Associates.

Membership Levels are described below:
   
Principal Members are those legal entities that joined the Alliance, by signing the PRIME Alliance Agreement prior to the first meeting of the Management Committee held on May 18th, 2009, and carrying out all duties and obligations imposed thereafter.

In addition to all of the rights granted to the rest of Parties of the Alliance, Principal Members are granted specific additional rights, such as:

a.
The right to appoint one (1) Representative to serve on the Management Committee of the Alliance, which shall be composed up to a maximum number of eight (8) Members, for the term starting on the date of the first meeting of the Management Committee; and
   
b.
The eligibility to chair Working Groups.
   
Regular Members. Any legal entity shall be eligible to be a regular member if it demonstrates that it is dedicated to the purposes of this Alliance by:
   
a.
Publicly displaying a legitimate business interest; and/or
   
b.
Publicly supporting, in the form of a press release or as evidenced by shipping products or enabling technology for an open single specification and standard for narrowband powerline for SmartGrid products and services or deploying for public access products employing open single specification and standard for narrowband powerline for SmartGrid products and services; and
   
c.
Receiving approval of the membership application by the Management Committee; and
   
d.
Paying such dues and fees as the Management Committee may fix from time to time.
   
 Regular Members, including the Principal Members, shall be granted the following rights:
   
1.
The right to access to confidential information, including but not limited to draft specifications and internal working documents of the Alliance; and
   
2.
The eligibility to participate in the activities of the Working Groups; and
   
3.
Pre-release access to draft specifications and other documents of the Alliance and the right to attend and participate in compliance workshops conducted prior to release of a specification by the Alliance.
   
Associates. Any legal entity that satisfies the requirements for membership of Regular Members and, in addition:
 
a.
Agrees to actively promote an open single specification and standard for narrowband powerline for SmartGrid products and services; and/or
   
b.
Is shipping or deploying for public access products employing open single specification and standard for narrowband powerline for SmartGrid products and services; and
   
c.
Receives approval of the membership application by the Management Committee; and
   
d.
Is sponsored by a Principal Member.
   
The Associates, including Principal Members and Regular Members, shall be granted the following rights:
   
a.
The right to appoint one (1) Representative for the General Meeting and the right to vote in the said General Meeting; and
   
b.
The right to attend and participate in training seminars; and
   
c.
Access to forum to provide feedback on specifications.
